POSITIONSUMMARY:

Provides efficient, effective and timely architecturalexpertise to design and program management of Keesler AFB facility projects aspart of Civil Engineering Services Branch’s staff. Interfaces with customer, engineering, and contractingmanagement personnel as required resolving Keesler AFB engineering servicescustomer support issues. Accomplishesother administrative tasks as required to ensure effective contractor civilengineering services customer support to Keesler AFB.

RECRUITINGJOB SUMMARY:

·MAJORJOB ACTIVITIES: Please list by order of priority and, if possible, provide thepercentage of time spent on the activity all should equal 100%.

·Complies with guidance provided in Air ForceInstruction 32-1023, Design and Construction Standards and Execution ofFacility Construction Projects, in addition to specific contractual guidance,in the accomplishment of design services. Prepares facility project designs to account for all known conditionsand constraints, to allow for maximum flexibility, and to ensure adherence toall building codes, regulatory laws and safety standards as contractuallydefined.

·Maintains full responsibility for designrequirements of all projects except Military Construction (MILCON) and projectsdesigned by other agencies in accordance with base support agreements. Provides functional and technical designreviews, coordination and support for MILCON and projects designed and executedby other. Reviews out-sourced orsub-contracted design and engineering requirements for accuracy andcompleteness.

·Identifies and validates project designrequirements with all project team members and applicable externalorganizations (safety, security, etc) and the end user to further refine andcoordinate project requirements and criteria identified during projectprogramming. Coordinates completed designprocess with the end user.

·Completes a thorough design analysis inconjunction with fellow contracted Engineering Services Branch professionalengineers on staff, for all elements of facility projects including but notlimited to electrical, mechanical civil, structural, lighting, communication,architectural, and environmental issues. Provides comprehensive conceptual design, schematic design and designdevelopment addressing all known aspects of the work affecting functionalrequirements, material performance and system selections.

·Prepares and maintains project designdocumentation that accurately tracks design sequence and rationale of designdecisions, parametric cost estimates for various design phases, decisions onbuilding materials and other pertinent project information. Provides statementof work and cost estimates for work to be performed by the privatizedelectrical distribution contractor.

·Provides necessary construction documents(drawing, specification, cost estimates and other required documents) usingautomated tools such as Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), wordprocessing, spreadsheet and other applicable automated systems.

·Works closely with USAF contracting personnel toensure requirements supporting USAF-contracting procured construction andrenovation projects are expressed accurately and comprehensively in designdocuments and that work is accomplished to a high level quality. Participatesin meetings as required by Engineering Branch leadership to review projectdesign and construction issues with USAF-Contracting, contracted Constructionmanagement and construction contractors as applicable and facilitates solution

·Participates in meetings with Asset Managementas required to support development of MAP, CAMP and BCAMP products. May be involved as or with AMP manager andsub-AMP managers to develop requirements.

·Performs other duties and assignments asrequired.

MATERIAL& EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

·Standard office equipment (computer, AutoCad, MicrosoftOffice software products, printer, copier, and telephone).

·May require use of field equipment for testingconstruction work.

·May require driving to various locations onKeesler AFB to review construction or investigate for design.

WORKINGENVIRONMENT:

·Working in open office environment.

·Involves conducting meeting to gatherrequirements as well as working with Contracting personnel and Contractors todevelop solutions.

·May be required to work other than standard workhours to ensure effective customer support.

·May require additional effort to handle multipleprojects in a shortened time frame to meet customer requirements.

PHYSICALACTIVITIES:

·Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 lbs.

·May be required to do field verification bywalking across grounds, working in mechanical rooms of facilities, climbing onroofs.

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may besubstituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

·Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or anassociated engineering discipline in addition to certification as a RegisteredArchitect preferred.

Experience:

·Minimum 5 years’ experience working commercialand institutional building design and construction.

Skills:

·Familiarity with USAF civil engineeringprocesses/procedures is highly desirable.

·Ability to work independently is preferred.

·AutoCad drafting.
